Paph Mishima Elf

This is a cross of Elfstone by Skip Bartlett 'White Pepper' HCC/AOS. Elfstone is a large green/white complex and Skip Bartlett is FC Puddle X godefroyae. This type of cross seems to be extremely popular today in complex white breeding. The flower from this particular plant is what you would expect from this breeding, although the very best of this cross should have a larger dorsal and be larger overall in size, and perhaps have a flatter presentation. The flower opened with a very green-ish tinge and changed to a creamy yellow over a week or so later. The flower is a bit overwhelmed by the bright sunlight in this picture and is actually not as dull as it appears here.

I just got this plant from Orchids Unlimited about a month ago(http://www.orchidweb.com) and was luckily enough to receive it in bud.

A couple of these were also listed in the recent AOS Awards Bulletin, although there were no pics provided. Plant is relatively small -- with two new growths -- and while it doesn't seem to be of award quality, I'm hoping that the next flowering will be larger on a more mature plant that didn't have to endure shipping while bareroot and in bud

Miltassia Dark Star 'Darth Vader'

Just got this plant this year and it is growing like a weed. So far just one growth has flowered. It had 4 buds on the infloresence, but the oldest one didn't form quite properly and dropped off just before opening. Flowers stayed open for just over two weeks. Not a particularly good photo as it looks a bit washed out here -- but camera batteries ran out and flowers started to deteriorate by the time I bought replacement batteries.

MyOrchidPics

I had originally intended on starting this site several months ago -- with pictures of orchids that I have bloomed. But those plans were somewhat detoured after I wound up losing my hard drive on my laptop -- along with all my orchid pics.

So am starting again completely from scratch.

Here is Blc. Wei Sheng Gold ' Green Gold'. This is a cross between Ports of Paradise and American Heritage. Flowers opened up a nice lime green -- slowly changing to yellow after about two weeks with the flowers expiring at about that time. This is my first flowering of this plant. Didn't measure flowers -- but they are about 3" or so in diameter. Plant is not too tall -- about a foot in height.
